Chennai Super Kings clinched their seventh consecutive win as they defeated Kings XI Punjab by 15 runs at Chepauk. Suresh Raina set up the CSK victory with a glorious century. Kings XI did put up a stiff fight and one must say that they lost the match only in the final over with 19 runs to score.

Once again Michael Hussey provided a good start for CSK taking the total to 82 for 2 in 11.1 overs before he was stumped off Piyush Chawla. Hussey scored 35 from 29 balls to get the Orange Cup. Suresh Raina stayed the distance after coming in the middle in the 4th over and went onto smash an unbeaten 100 from 53 balls with 7 fours and half a dozen sixes! Albie Morkel supported him in the end overs with a cameo of 23 from 16 balls as CSK piled up a total of 186 for 4. For Kings XI Punjab, speedster Parvinder Awana bowled well for his 2 for 29 in 4 overs.

Kings XI had a poor start with 36 for 2 on the board in 6 overs. Shaun Marsh, who came out to bat at no.3 batted long to put his team in the contest. The match was getting into a balance when David Miller arrived at the crease to play some big hits. The pair of Marsh and Miller scared the CSK bowlers but the target they were chasing was slightly higher.

In the end, Kings XI Punjab came second at 171 for 6. Shaun Marsh couldn’t pull off any magic and departed in the final over after scoring 73 from 51 balls (with 8 fours and 2 sixes). David Miller remained unbeaten with a terrific 51 from 26 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes. For CSK, Bravo bowled well for his 3 for 34 in 4 overs. Albie Morkel bowled a good spell with the new ball going for just 20 in his 4 overs.
