Hosts Perth Scorchers won a low-scoring contest against Brisbane Heat at the WACA Ground by 10 runs. Perth Scorchers batting first after winning the toss put up 162 for 8 on the board in the allotted 20 overs. Skipper Marcus North came up with an impressive 40 from 29 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes to lay the foundation for his team along with fellow opener South African Herschelle Gibbs, who scored 38 from 22 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes. Apart from the openers and Mitchell Marsh (33 from 21 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes), none of the batsmen fired for the hosts.

Brisbane Heat also got a decent start in their run-chase with former international Matt Hayden scoring 33 from 26 balls. The latter part of the chase was carried by Wicket Keeper batsman Peter Forrest who scored 59 from 42 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes, but his efforts went in vain as Brisbane Heat fell 11 runs short of the target. Brisbane Heat were restricted to 152 for 6 to end on the losing side. Interestingly, the Player of the Match award went to Marcus North.
